A series of AMSAAC Working Group Meetings was held during the 34th AMSC 2013 in Malaysia. We talked about what our aims are and discussed how to run the organisation. We also had the chance to talk to Shigeru Suganami, one of founders of AMSA and the founder and president of AMDA.
Shigeru Suganami, one of the founders of AMSA and the founder and president of AMDA, was invited to the Launching Ceremony at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia on July 8, 2013, during the 34th AMSC 2013 in Malaysia. Together with some of the founding members of AMSAAC, he simulated the planting of a young Frangipani tree. (It was later planted in the ground!) Hopefully the tree will grow large and strong and bear many fragrant and beautiful flowers – and the same for AMSAAC!
Over 50 alumni and a few current members from Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Kingdom gathered on July 6, 2013 at the Royale Chulan Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. There was lots of fun (games and dancing!) and photos, just like an AMSA conference! Special thanks to Adli Ali, AMSA Malaysia alumnae, and Cecil Lee, the first Liason Officer for AMSAAC of AMSA International, also from Malaysia, for doing an excellent job organizing this special event.
The 34th AMSC 2013 in Malaysia was held in Kuala Lumpur from July 3-8. Some AMSAAC members attended the Cultural Night on July 8, 2013 and interacted with current AMSA members. We were also invited up on stage to sing the AMSA Song! "We are the people of tomorrow, We are the ones who would make better change."
